Shawn Green won't play on Yom Kippur
Whoops! The original article I quoted from below was from 2001 - thanks a lot Google. But... Shawn Green is still deciding if he should take off both or one of the games this weekend. Below is an article from today...

Now I'm not a baseball fan, but I say "Go Shawn!" I hope that the Dodgers and the fans support his decision. Previously he donated his salary for that day to a charity (It's only about $70,000.) it would be nice if he did the same thing again this year.
Lastly, in 2001 he said: "I would feel guilty playing on that day anyway but it's definitely the
right example to set. There are a lot of Jewish kids out
there who don't want to go to synagogue that day or on a holiday. I
think Sandy [Koufax] set a precedent on that and made my decision so much easier."
May those of you who are observing have an easy fast.
