Saucer - S-A-U-C-E-R
Today we said farewell to the Ultrasaucer. For those of you without wee ones, this is one of those large toys that the kid sits in the middle of, there are lots of toys around him, and the bottom is a big saucer (Not for use outdoors or for sledding!)
My friend had lent us the saucer as her kids had outgrown it. We are now in turn lending to another friend who has the most adorable twins. After much searching, we have picked out a bug fancy schmancy toy to replace the saucer which I hope to find at Target tomorrow. It was probably harder for me to say goodbye than it was for Child (we have some great moments spent playing with that saucer!) but it's going to a good home.
Right now I'm watching the National Spelling Bee on ESPN. Yes you read that correctly. (what can I say there is nothing else remotely interesting on!) But there was one kid who apparently took a header on stage then got up, spelled the word correctly, and made it to the finals. Pretty impressive these kids are - I've never even heard of some of these words. This one kid is a complete goober, glasses at the end of his nose, slow nasaly drawl, and is taking the LONGEST time. The parents are there with their video cameras, and everyone is on the edge of their seats. And I've gotten so into this, that my heart breaks for these kids when they get the "ding!" that signifies a word was spelled wrong. I really should watch that documentary about the National Spelling Bee (Spellbound I think it's called).
Tomorrow I'm TOTALLY psyched for - it is my day off! I've got the whole day planned out - going out to lunch, and going to see Harry Potter 3. Woo hoo! I'm also going to run some shopping errands for the kid, and hopefully (if I'm not being too ambitious) may get some painting in as well.
Oooohhh... "Championship words" coming up next!
