"Head...Shoulders...Knees and...SOCKS!"
My cheeks actually hurt from smiling.
Our kid is the greatest. For example...
...He he has names for all his books. There is "Monsters" which contains the various Sesame Street characters (mostly monsters). There is "Yellow" which is Dr. Seuss "My Many Colored Days." We have "Night Night Blue" which is a goodnight Blue's Clues book, "Moo Baa" (aka Moo Baa LaLaLa by Sandra Boynton), and "OOO-oooh-ing" which is his book about monkeys.
...As I got him ready for bed, I snuck an opportunity to clip his fingernails. Usually, he is not so happy about this. I counted each finger as I went along. He was pretty mellow, since he was pretty tired. But then when I got to his second hand, and I said "six" he replied "seven, eight, nine" I was shocked. The kid isn't even two yet. I asked "What comes after nine?" "ten" he replied. Wow. So I continued clipping, and he continued to help me count.
... Once in his footie jammies, we go in to say "Night Night" to Spouse and Child blows him a big kiss. Complete with saying "Mwah!" and the hand motion.
...Then as I was rocking him and singing him his bedtime songs, he has now turned them into audience participation. He particularly likes to sing the "eeeeeee" in the middle of and the "ba!" at the end of Ladysmith Black Mambazo's "African Alphabet" (with Kermit the Frog). Then he asks for the "Ernie song" which is "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon." Tonight though, we got lots of "ba!"s and giggles and just a look of pure joy.
This is what its all about folks.
