"Head...Shoulders...Knees and...SOCKS!"

I think our son, although he will vehemently deny this, is a picky eater.  Now he does eat a variety of things, but he eats what he eats.  And there is little variety to that.  He used to eat lots of veggies - no more.  He used to eat macaroni and cheese - now he will only eat the kids kind that come in little cans and will only eat those at Shiny's dad's house (even though we bring them from our house - he won't eat them here.)  Thankfully he likes a variety of fruit, cheese, and Morningstar farms products.  The last big new food he tried and liked (and still asks for) is scrambled eggs.  It took him a while to convince him that latkes were just like flattened tater tots (add those to the list as well).  And he will only eat his vegi-meatballs at school, not at home.  We tried making a sticker chart for new foods, and he picked out all the new foods himself.  But so far only latkes and eggs have been tried and add to the rotation.  Sorry matzah balls, pirogies, rice, and pasta - this boy just says no to carbs!

But one food he doesn't like "I will NEVER EVER eat that Mommy...EVER!" (said complete with the hand motion of swiping things away) is bread.  I find this odd, as he LOVES French toast (freedom toast?).  He has French toast sticks almost every freaking morning for breakfast.  He also LOVES cheese quesadillas.  So I'm on a mission to get this boy to eat grilled cheese sandwiches.  I know that he loves "melty cheese".  He knows this too.  I know that he loves toast, he knows that he loves toast.  So tonight I was trying to convince him that he will love my "melty cheese sandwiches".  This will help add to the restaurants we can go to (since almost every place has grilled cheese on the menu) and they usually come w/french fries and he can dip them in ketchup.  Yumm....

So I tried to explain to him tonight that melty cheese sandwiches are really just toast quesadillas (well they are...) and tomorrow afternoon we are going to go to the store together to get the necessary ingredients to make toast quesadillas - bread, cheese (his choice), and ketchup.  He is going to help me make them, they will be cut into four (and only 4) pieces, and then we are going to eat them for lunch.  (with sides of tater tots for him, tomato soup for me!).   We'll see if he really goes through with this.  Although now that he's excited for toast quesadillas,

I am a little worried that he thinks we'll be making them on French toast though!  yick...
