Harry Potter AND a Slurpee!
So today lived up to it’s expectations! Hooray for me!
I got up early as always and dropped off the child at daycare. I was proud of him today for not complaining and crying when I left. Off to Target #1 to buy cheap play clothes for the kid that we can leave at daycare. Also here we had failed toy search #1. They had the toy I wanted, but not the version of it we are looking for. Then breakfast and home to get online and check in with Spouse. Running ahead of schedule, I then went and got my movie tickets, stopped at Target #2 (again with no success), and then enjoyed a sumptuous steak Caesar salad at Don Pablo’s. I also got to enjoy catching up on reading my latest book, and the only downside to lunch was the waitress who looked a lot like Edie McClurg (not a bad thing) but she was wearing WAY too much perfume. So much so that I could smell even when she was standing a table away.
Then what I was most excited about today – I saw the new Harry Potter movie! The theater was less than half full, and there were only six kids, so we all got to be comfy and it was quiet. I really liked the movie. It was a nice escape, but it bothered me a little bit that the exterior scenery around the castle grounds had been changed from the last two movies (going down to Hagrid’s hut, the Whomping Willow) and the kids are starting to look like they are getting too old to play these characters. There was a lot of detail going on in the background, so when I watch the movie again I’ll be able to pay more attention to that. There were a lot of details from the book that they skipped, and other things that they left in but never explained. If I hadn’t read the book then I probably would have been confused by some of those things. Lastly, I LOVED the closing credits, and stayed through the end to see the small details they added in there.
After the movie, I went ToysRUs (again no toy, but I got a Magna Doodle!) and to the art supply place to buy more paint and brushes, and was totally psyched to go home and start my latest projects. Instead, I got the call from Spouse asking if I could pick up the kid, which I happily did so that Spouse could go out with some friends. Child and I had a lovely evening – that Magna Doodle is a huge hit! He drew – er…scribbled – a lot and then had fun erasing it and saying “bye bye!” After bathtime and bedtime, I started to work on my project, and Spouse came home with the toy I was looking for! (He went to Target #3) He also brought Slurpee for me. A vanilla Coke Slurpee to be exact – the perfect ending to a lovely day!
