"Head...Shoulders...Knees and...SOCKS!"

Book Club
Sock - by Penn Jilette

I finally finished this slim paperback (208 pages) although it took me a few months to do so.  I started it back in May while we were off on a camping trip and found it a bit difficult to get in to.  The writing style is rather choppy and unique - there are lot of song lyrics quoted and tangents.  I had put it donw for a bit, read a couple Harry Potter books, and picked this back up to finally finish.  I found it suprisingly easy to get back to, and was anxious to get to the end.

The book is about a NYPD police diver who pulls bodies from the river.  One day he pulls up his ex-girlfriend, finds that she was killed by a serial killer.  He then teams up with his ex-girlfriend's best friend - a gay hairdresser - to find the killer.  And this is all told from the perspective of his sock monkey Dickie.

Do they find the killer?  What happens after that?  Why is there so much emphasis on atheism and spirituality and Proust?  You must read it to find out.  I'm curious to know what others may think - so go Sock - discuss.
