"Head...Shoulders...Knees and...SOCKS!"
I feel like it has been ages since I have blogged. I guess part of the problem is that I've been so busy - what with work and the holidays and all - and I'm stuck on what to say. But since I'm watching the Emmy awards right now - I say "Yay Amazing Race winning for the second year in a row!" Phil rocks.
This past week at work I've been busy saying goodbye to an exhibit that I have worked on since 2001. This was my second time working with the same team of people - and I would work with them again in a heartbeat. Throughout the course of the creation and development of this exhibit, we went through September 11th together (I was actually preparing to review artifacts when we found out what happened) and two children were born (including my own!). I was the project coordinator - keeping track of everything that was looked at, talked about, considered, put in, taken out, and eventually included. I've had the honor of meeting many people who stories were told in this exhibit and many more whose stories we just did not have room for. Somehow I even ended up being interviewed on German television about it. But after a year of being up, everything has been taken down, packed up in crates, and it is getting ready to go out on the road to other venues. It's sad to say goodbye, but exciting to know that my next project will open in that same space in a couple months.
My Rosh Hashana was spent mostly taking care of Child, because we didn't want him disrupting the services. My favorite part was when we were able to be in during the reading of the Torah on the second day, and Child was pointing at the colors on his father's tallit and properly identifying "yellow!" and "red!" He "shushed" me quite a few times when I was singing along with one of the prayers and made a lasting impression on everyone when he put his fingers on either side of his mouth and then stuck his tongue out while we were standing together on the bima (pulpit) in front of the entire congregation. We were so proud.
Later that afternoon, after Spouse had gone back to services, Child was running around stuck indoors with all this energy, and I felt bad that he couldn't go outside to play because of the rainy weather. We had quite a few rounds of "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" "Yes sweetie..." "Hi Mommy!" His favorite song to sing now is "E-I-E-I-O" Apparently Old MacDonald had quite a lot of monkeys. Last night though, Child decided right before bathtime that he wanted to wear his sandals. Just his sandals. No clothes, no diaper, just sandals.
Since I'm still watching the Emmys - Yay Arrested Development! They totally deserve Best Comedy Series. Thanks to Spouse for getting me into this show. I will admit that I was never a Jason Bateman girl in the 80s, but now I find him quite yummy.
Lastly, I
would like add a special shout-out to ArrrgyleSpouse for never ceasing
to amaze me with his wit and creative talents. He is simply incredible
in his skills and I am truly blessed to be able to witness them on a
daily basis.
A sweet and happy new year to you and yours...
