What I'm about to write is not easy for me. Perhaps it is because I'm tired and my defenses are lowered that I can admit what I'm about to write.
I think that I have outgrown MTV.
I gave up on The Real World during the Las Vegas season. It was too over the top. Paris - I found them boring and tedious. I'm currently watching the premiere of Philly - which so far is interesting. Perhaps it is because this is the most amazing house that I think any cast has ever lived in. Perhaps it is because it is a slightly older cast than they usual have. Or perhaps I will lose interest in the season much like I did with this season of Road Rules. Now this show I usually follow because what they are doing is so much more interesting. This year - whiners. Voting people off. They are tinkering with the format man. Bring back Timmy. Enough with the freaking Miz. So if I miss the show, I'm not gonna freak out about it.
Now the VMAs - didn't catch those at all this year. In fact, I remember watching Madonna sing "Like a Virgin" on the VMAs so many years ago, and the hushed and scandalous discussion in the locker room at jr. high the next day. This year - nope didn't even care.
I'm falling instead for VH1. "Best Week Ever" the behind the scenes shows. I love the 70s, 80s, and 90s. And remember "Pop up video"? Dude, they totally should bring that back.
Not that I have time to watch videos - not that they show them anyway. But I'm just thinking that perhaps it may be time to break up with MTV. And while we're at it, perhaps it's time for Madonna to break up with them too.
