"Head...Shoulders...Knees and...SOCKS!"
Goodness me...I don't blog for a few days and I come back to everything being different. I'm not one that is always big on change. I know that change can be good, but sometimes you just want the comfort of things staying the same. Like Windows 3.0, the Commodore 64, and Colecovision...
Well I am happy to report that my family is okee-dokee. Two down, one to go! Hopefully Ivan will decide NOT to join us for the holidays. They all made it through Frances ok, as did the house, and yesterday they were of the few 10% that were lucky enough to have electricity, water, and phone.
For those of you keeping score at home, I finally gave my presentation and I think it went pretty well. No technical problems, and lots of discussion was generated.
Today I got some good news from my boss. She got a letter in the mail about me. A good letter! You see earlier this summer, I received a call from an artist regarding three of his paintings. He was told that they were donated to our institution. We didn't have them. So after quadruple checking our records to make sure we didn't have them, making a few phone calls and getting additional information from the artist, I located the missing pieces. Turns out they were still with the corporation that supposedly contributed them. He was so excited to hear that the pieces were safe and where they were, he said he wanted to send me a large gift. Since I am not allowed to accept such gifts, I said no thank you. He persisted, and I half-kidding suggested that he write a letter to my supervisor. He asked for her name, and I didn't think he really would. In fact, I had pretty much forgotten about it until this weekend when someone I was speaking with randomly asked me during our conversation if I had ever heard of this artist. Strange. So then today, boss lady tosses a letter at me and says "You should read this." And it was about me!

Re: Socks, your brilliant assistant!
He went on to explain how I kept him posted as to what was going on, and how kind and generous I was with my time, and my wit and charm. Very very sweet and kind, and very much going into my personnel file.
So go Socks go! I am - strangely enough - very much looking forward to my annual review this year.
