"Head...Shoulders...Knees and...SOCKS!"

So once again life finds me far away from my family while a major hurricane is headed towards them. My parents have finished putting up their hurricane shutters and are planning to send us photos of the house in case they need them for insurance purposes. My best friend and her husband have also done all that they can to prepare their home, but they are in an evacuation zone and will be leaving soon.

Reports are stating that Frances is bigger than Andrew was - and I still remember the destruction and devestation left behind by that one. Which was actually right around this same time of year - just weeks before the Jewish holidays. According to the Miami Herald, gas stations are out of gas, ATMs are empty - as are store shelves. Many shelters are open, traffic is jammed, football games rescheduled, and even the the National Hurricane Center has boarded itself up.

And I - once again - will be far away from them. Watching the Weather Channel and checking the internet. Waiting for them to call and tell me that everything and most importantly - everyone - is OK.
