"Head...Shoulders...Knees and...SOCKS!"
- So we were supposed to go out of town this weekend, but changed our plans and stayed home instead. I think we're all much happier for it. Since Spouse & I already had the day off and Child had a teacher work day at daycare, we took a family day. Twas loads of fun as there are lots of neat "free" things to do here in DC. I say "free" because once you factor in parking and food, it can get rather pricey. But now that I think about it, we probably only spent about $25. Which when you factor in the entertainment and fun of watching our little one toddle around and marvel at everything for about 3+ hours AND we got to see naked mole rats well now...that's just priceless.
- And yup...still watching the Olympics. I know, I'm a loser, but the other advantage is that it's not Sesame Street, so the kid loses interest and takes that much needed nap.
- And another thing about Child - his vocabulary is really increasing - and that blows my mind. He's learned all these new words, and repeats a lot of what we say. The other morning on our way to daycare we were stopped next to a Metrobus. I said "Do you see the bus?" "Bus!" he replied. Now every time we've passed a bus, he proudly points it out, or says "Bye Bus!" as it drives off. He also sang "Up above the" when I sang Twinkle Twinkle to him the other night. For some reason, that just blew me away. His other favorite song - the mail song from Blue's Clues. Just loves to throw his hands up in the air and wail "MAAAAAIIIIIL!" The one thing he says that we can't explain is when he wags his finger and says "No no Nicky! No!" at seemingly random moments. Like in the pool, or while being pushed in his stroller. There is a kid in his class with this name, and Child has been the victim of some biting, but we don't know if Nicky is the biter, or if Nicky just gets into a lot of trouble so this is said a lot. I'll have to ask on Monday...
- I finished my speech this weekend! Even created my first Power Point presentation. Spouse gave me the best compliment when I did a read through for him: "You know I thought it was going to be boring - and it wasn't!" This is excellent for me, because that means my target audience won't find it boring either! I hope...
